The room was spinning.
A chill shot through me as I fought my way back to consciousness. Everything around me seemed out of place and pain was creeping slowly into my head with increasing intensity. As my eyes regained their focus in the shadowy darkness, I scanned the nearby blurry outlines and saw the shape of what appeared to be a body about five feet away.
It was eerily still.
I didn’t recognize the person lying there so still, but right now, frankly nothing was making sense. Apparently I was in an office. It seemed somewhat old with modern furniture and equipment. Chairs and file cabinets were flipped over. Desk tops were strewn with files and paper spilling over onto the floor.
I could faintly hear the muffled sound of an off the hook phone pulsating its warning under the piles of papers. Each pulse made the throbbing intensify in the back of my head.
I felt around in the darkness and pushed myself up onto my knees. My trembling arms and legs felt like lead weights as I fought gravity to stand and survey my situation in the midst of the dismal confusion.
What was I doing here? Where was I? A million questions swirled in my mind as I strained to see through the shadows.
I made my way over slowly to the body on the floor. It became quite obvious as I saw the large pool of blood under his head, that he was no longer alive. I really had no clue as to what had happened or who this was on the floor.
I heard the sound of sirens gradually approaching from a distance. The lights from several patrol cars flashed across the windows as tires screeched to a halt outside the building. The noise and strobe like lights intensified the pulsating pain in my head as the room started spinning again.
Suddenly the door burst open as I hit the floor. Everything around me slipped away into darkness and distant fading sounds……
My wife and I have both had a life long ambition to be authors. For me it began with my love for JRR Tolkien's writing's, especially the Hobbit. For my wife it began with her love of the writing's of Isaac Asimov and Agatha Christie. For the past forty years we have been busy with careers, raising children and watching grandchildren grow. Through the years, we have been involved with small theatre groups. Many of the skits and plays we wrote ourselves or in collaboration with others. We now live four hours away from our children and their families, so we find ourselves with some free time. We decided if we were ever going to write a book it had to be now. We are the proud parents of 6 children, who are the proud parents of 12 children. We also love paranormal investigating. We have investigated many sites on our own. We also enjoy going on ghost hunts with Ghost Hunt Weekends led by Chad Morin and celebrity guest ghost hunters. Ideal Events is also another favorite ghost hunting experience for us. We've investigated in private homes, Ft Mifflin, St.Augustine Lighthouse, Sloss Furnace and the Moon River Brewery. We love to travel and cruise.
